To earn my Presidential Volunteer Service Award, I dedicated myself to raising funds for a meaningful cause—constructing an amenity filled high school classroom for orphaned and disabled children in Hyderabad, India, and I was able to accomplish this through Asha Jyothi. This initiative allowed me to support education as a transformative tool while creating an opportunity for those coming from a vulnerable community. It was truly a fulfilling experience that reinforced my commitment to community service and helped me make a small yet meaningful impact within our world.

My work that led to the PVSA Award:
I have been a part of Asha-Jyothi for as long as I can remember. This wonderful organization has played a large role in shaping who I am today. The invaluable community and skills I have gained from working closely with Asha-Jyothi are ones I will continue to cherish forever. Asha-Jyothi has given me the ability to create a significant impact on communities that are very close to my heart.

With the support of the AJ core team, I was able to carry out campaigns that benefited underprivileged women and children in India. More locally, I spread awareness about Asha-Jyothi’s Educate-Innovate initiative to public schools in my area. Additionally, every year my friends and I choreograph, practice, and perform an exciting dance routine before the race and during the flash mob. This annual tradition is a great way for us to contribute to the race and get the runners excited for a fun day.

I am forever grateful for all that Asha-Jyothi has given me, and I am eager to give back and continue making an impact!

My work that led to the PVSA Award:
I have been a part of Asha-Jyothi for as long as I can remember, and it has become an integral part of my life. Every year, I look forward to the annual 5K event, which I enjoy both attending and helping organize. This past year, I had the honor of serving as the emcee. What I love most about Asha-Jyothi is the deeply personal and meaningful impact of each campaign. One of my favorites was the Project Baala campaign, which focused on distributing sustainable menstrual pads and helping to destigmatize menstruation. Visiting the schools and orphanages we supported and engaging with the girls was an unforgettable and humbling experience. Currently, I am involved with the scholarship campaign and the sewing machines campaign, which aims to empower women in rural India by providing them with sustainable work. I am so grateful to have AJ in my life to help me give back to my community.
